Fabulous Friday - Kathryn & David

Friday, June 27, 2014 2:05:35 PM America/Los_Angeles

Today's Fabulous Friday bride is Kathryn. I'm a big outdoors fan, and Kathryn's wedding looks and sounds amazing (look at the stunning backdrop of nature). I love Kathryn and Dave are both beekeepers. I'm always impressed with how diverse, unique and fun our brides are! We don't have a mold of a typical Dolly bride - just awesome, strong and beautiful women. Kathryn is no excpetion.

Couple's Name: Kathryn & David

Location: Paradise Montana (it is really named Paradise, honest!) on September 28, 2013

"We got married at the exact site (at my parent's cabin right on the Clark Fork River) where we had our 'first date'. I took Dave fly fishing on the river (I wore waders and a ballcap, but I guess it worked)."

Theme/Colors/Style of wedding: "Outdoor wedding, vintage/shabby chic, honeybees (we are both beekeepers) sunflowers, wildflowers, mason jars and our guestbook was a typewriter!"

Dress: "The Cambridge, Pink Label Collection. The long sleeves came in handy since it was 50 degrees and raining on our wedding day. Chilly yes...but so beautiful! The only change I made to the dress was pockets to hold my hankie!"

Favorite moment(s) from the wedding: "Where do I start? The whole day was a beautiful blur but some of my favorite moments are: my mother helping me into my wedding dress and putting her mother's pearls on me (every woman in our family gets married in these very special pearls...I cried of course! :)  Our first dance to Neil Young's 'Harvest Moon', our first married kiss and all of our wedding guests happily dancing the night away under a clear-topped tent!"

Why you chose Dolly Couture: "I really wanted to emulate Audrey Hepburn as a bride from Funny Face (the most beautiful bride of all time)! When I saw the Dolly website - I knew this was the only place I wanted to go to shop for a short, vintage style wedding dress. Not to mention the customer service is phenomenal!"

Advice for future Dolly Couture brides: "Enjoy every second, don't sweat the small stuff and wear comfy shoes so you can dance. Dolly dresses are meant to be twirled in!"

"Thanks Dolly Couture!!"

Fabulous Friday - Nikki & Phil

Friday, June 21, 2013 11:21:37 AM America/Los_Angeles

It's once again Fabulous Friday here at Dolly Couture, and we have an all new bride to showcase!

It's time for Nikki & Phil! They are ADORBS!!!

Couple: Nikki & Phil

Wedding Date & Location: 9/30/2010 on the World Yacht, on the Hudson River, NY

Wedding Theme:

"The theme of our wedding reception back in Stone, Staffordshire U.K, was fifties style, with everyone dressing up in a fifties theme, and I decorated by myself with a candy buffet, juke box and lots of fifties balloons and decorations."

Dress: Nikki wore a custom gown. She chose a pink satin for the Luxor and did a large polka dot overlay with a pink satin sash to match. She also wore a bolero trimmed in the same polka dots as her dress.

Favorite moment from the wedding:

"My favourite part of the wedding was having my husband travel to the wedding in a blind fold so he couldn't see my Dolly dress, and being walked down the aisle by my dad. Also seeing Phil's face when he saw me for the first time, which was beautifully captured by the amazing New York photographer Lina Jang. That photo means a lot to me as it captures our emotions perfectly."

What made you choose DC?

"I picked Dolly Couture after searching through the Internet with a specific look that I had in mind, as I am a fan of vintage inspired fifties dresses, polka dots, and pettis, and was specifically after a short wedding dress, with none being sold locally. I had one previous disaster going to a local bridal store where I cried and walked out as none were to my style, and far to tall for my small frame. So I found Dolly Couture on the Internet and was very impressed at the wonderful helpful service I received from Dolly herself, and Nickie. They were very patient with me and designed my dress beautifully with the ideas on what I was after. They reassured me, and their patience was fantastic with all the questions and worries any new bride has. I was impressed with the sketching they sent me, and I can not fault the whole service I received. It made the whole wedding dress experience fantastic. I was over the moon when I received my dress; it was exactly how I imagined in my head. If ever there was a Dolly couture shop over in Britain I wouldn't hesitate to show my interest in being part of Dolly Couture! I'm trying to find another excuse to buy another Dolly dress!"

Advice for future DC brides:

"Put your faith in Dolly and her team! It will be just as wonderful as you imagine. She really does know how to work her magic!"

Fabulous Friday - Robyn & Nick

Friday, June 14, 2013 1:22:44 PM America/Los_Angeles

It's Fabulous Friday here at Dolly Couture and what better way to celebrate it to show off one of our very own fabulous Dolly Couture brides!

Pull up a chair and let's get to know Robyn and Nick!!

Couple: Robyn & Nick

Wedding Date: 5/27/2012

Wedding Colors: Colors were yellow & silver, flowers featured the Plumeria, just like Robyn's ring

Dress: Robyn wore a white satin Luxor with an organza overlay on the skirt and a grey sash.

Favorite moment from the wedding:

"It was truly the best day ever!  Two days before the wedding, my now-husband had a bachelor party catastrophe and broke his hand. This meant we had to miss our honeymoon for him to have surgery, and we would be wearing a cast during the wedding.  He and my dad wrapped the purple cast in silver ribbon so it would better match our colors.  Our Pastor included the signing of the marriage license as part of the wedding ceremony, and everyone had a good laugh when Nick struggled to hold the pen in his right hand (the broken one).  Our marriage license includes his very poorly written initials, rather than his signature."

What made you choose DC?

I have always wanted a short wedding dress, and would have had a Grease (the movie) themed wedding had I been able to pull it off.  Therefore, I have always imagined myself in a short, retro dress.  I'm an old soul and should have been born in a poodle skirt!  Dolly made my dreams come true with her collection of retro-inspired dresses."

Advice for future DC brides:

"Dolly and her team make anything possible, so ask your consultant what customizations are possible.  It will be worth it!"

Thank you so much to Robyn for sharing her story! She looked stunning and what a great venue!
