Today we wanted to highlight our two newest gowns! We absoutely love them and can't wait to see more brides walk down the isles in these fabulous frocks!
First up is the Melrose. Inspired by the Avila Bay, we've made it a bit more risque. Look at that fabulous deep v-back! We also have added gorgeous sequins and capped sleeves to accentuate the beautiful Avila Bay lace overlay. The Melrose would not be complete without a matching Tyler detachable belt and detachable bow!
The Melrose retails for $895.00 for the standard gown (seen below), but it is fully customizable to match your style and color palette.
Our other brianchild is the Rio. It's named after the city that hosts the best Carnival in the world. The Rio has a beautiful organza overlay with hand sewn beads and sequins.
Customize The Rio with a sweetheart neckline, colored sequins or a colored satin underlay to make it even more fabulous! The Rio also retails for $895.00 for the standard gown.
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com for more information on the Melrose and the Rio!!! You're going to look fabulous dah-ling!

Today's Fabulous Friday couple is Tracy and Chris. You might want to have a tissue handy because I was bawling like a baby! We wish them the best!
Couple: Tracy and Chris Harvey
Location: Castle Rooms, Uddingston, Scotland 19th April 2014
Theme/Colours/Style: "As Chris proposed on a holiday to the Big Apple, we wanted to include elements of New York into our wedding. Being an Easter wedding we knew that yellow was a colour we wanted to feature, and we paired it with grey, thinking of the yellow taxis of New York City against the steely grey buildings. The golden yellow and grey also allowed us to tie in the tartan from our local football team, Motherwell FC as we are both avid fans. We even spent a part of our budget returning to New York to collect table decorations like street signs and best of all…… to visit the Dolly Couture showroom to choose my dream dress!"
"The beautiful Castle rooms was awash with golden yellow gerbera daisies and charcoal grey runners and chair covers. The Groom and groomsmen wore traditional kilts and the bridesmaids wore stunning short charcoal dresses with flower bouquets to match the bride."
"We chose a venue which was set in the beautiful town of Uddingston where the famous Tunnoch’s bakery is. There are lots of old tenement houses and quaint streets around the venue which gave plenty opportunity for some not-so-traditional photographs. It was a very relaxed day with only 60 guests, great local food and a fab band in the evening who played songs from Resevoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction, some of our fave movies. This really set the tone for the evening party we wanted! We had our first dance to ‘You never can Tell’ by Chuck Berry. As it was Easter Saturday we gave out Creme Eggs as favours too."
Dress: "I am so unbelievably grateful for the help I received from Yvette at the Dolly Couture showroom in New York for giving me so many options and for helping me choose. I was quite anxious as I left my fiancé to go choose a dress on my own. She even set up a Skype call home for some of my friends and family so I felt that they were there and I got to hear what they thought. In the end I chose the Tuscany dress which was not what I thought I would choose at all! I had a vision of the Beverlywood but as soon as I tried on the Tuscany I knew it was the one. I had a halter strap added later for support, and it was a massive hit on the day! Especially when I paired it with my grey converse for dancing in the evening. Short dresses are hard to come by in Scotland and our photographer commented that it was the nicest short dress he had ever seen!"
Favourite moment: "It's so hard to choose a favourite moment as the day was everything I hoped for and more, but I think I’d have to say when Chris dropped my ring! He was holding it whilst saying his vows and just as he was about to put it on my finger it fell and rolled across the floor. The place was roaring with laughter."
"I also will really treasure the speech by my husbands Granddad, who is 89 this year. He lost his own wife 11 years ago after 52 years of marriage and he said he wished us 52 years and more. There wasn't a dry eye in the house. He did lighten the mood again after dinner by starting a good old Scottish sing song though! "
Why Tracy chose Dolly Couture: "I have always known I would have a short wedding dress. I have always had a fascination with all things vintage and feel that the 50s style suits me especially since I'm so short. I found Dolly Couture long before we got engaged and always imagined I would have one of these dresses. Well my dream came true!"
Advice for Dolly Couture brides: "Take time to sit back and take in your day. Its so true what people say, it goes by in a heartbeat. You want to be able to tell your grandkids about it, after all you spent so much time planning it! Look at everything around you, see the smiles on your guests faces, relax and dance! This was the best advice I was given and as a result I have so many wonderful memories to treasure."

Some days it's not hard being plus sized. Some days it is. But the hardest time in my life being plus sized was wedding dress shopping. It's suppose to be the most exciting time in your life, but I can attest it is not. I've heard from so many of our Dolly Couture brides they have had similar experiences which breaks my heart.
I know how it is. You are excited but extremely nervous for your appointment. What if they don't have anything that fits? What if they are rude because of my body shape and size? Will I get the same customer service as a size 6 bride? I really love that size 10 dress, but I have no idea how it will look on me because the designer felt that dress should not be worn by plus sized women. Maybe that's not the designer's intention, but it sure feels like it doesn't it?
Unfortunately, more often than not these fears do come to life. It happened to me. And honestly I love the fact I work for a company that makes EVERY body type feel beautiful. I couldn't work for one of those other bridal companies who looks down on women because they are a certain size. My day is made when one of you tells me how special and beautiful you felt trying on our dresses, or how Dolly Couture didn't make you feel like an outcast - instead we welcomed you with open arms.
We have sizes 0 - 28 in our shops to try on. Some of our locations have less stock than others (yes, this includes the smaller sizes too), but we strive to accommodate everyone. And I guarantee none of our staff will judge you…for any reason. We see each and everyone of you as family the moment you email or step into our showrooms. There are no high pressure sales pitches. We let you decide on your own time. But more importantly we see each and everyone of you as beautiful human beings who have so much to offer the world.
I love my job. I love getting to see the smiles on your faces when you are wearing a Dolly dress. I love hearing how you felt beautiful on your wedding…and you should! You were stunning!
You are getting married because somebody saw you for who you are…your quirks, your beauty, your talent, your heart and your soul. The whole package is what makes you beautiful.
Thank you all for letting us make your dress and being a part of your special day. It's quite an honor.

Today's Fabulous Friday bride is Eva. We loved the location and the overall feel of the wedding. How beautiful did she look in the Newport Beach with her handsome hubs Ian beside her?
Couple: Eva & Ian
Location: Ray's Boathouse in Seattle, WA
Theme/Design/Colors/Style: "Timeless elegance with a flirty, feminine twist. The colors were various shades of light pink and white. We wanted to incorporate that vintage feeling in my dress, throughout the whole wedding. Guests were given white Ray-Ban style shades as favors, and we decorated with milk glass, pink depression glass, and mercury glass. We tried to evoke days gone by, without it seeming like the theme was 'vintage wedding'."
Dress: The Newport Beach with light pink ribbon accents
Favorite moment from the wedding: "It's very hard to pick my favorite part, because it was all so magical. That said, I'm really close to my dad, and throughout the whole wedding process, it sort of seemed like he wasn't really sure what his role was in planning the wedding. My favorite part of the whole day was when my dad and I had our father daughter dance to "My Girl" by The Temptations. We laughed and boogied down, and it was just so nice to see him having such a great time!"
Why you choose Dolly Couture: "I've always loved retro gowns and felt the style really suited me. My prom gown was a 50's inspired dress, and long before I got engaged, or even had a boyfriend, I had picked Dolly Couture as my dream dress designer. Getting my dress from the boutique in Tarzana was even more special, because my Nana, who couldn't come all the way to Seattle for the wedding due to health reasons, lives in Hollywood. I flew down and visited her for a weekend and she and I went together to pick my dress. It was a really special thing that just she and I got to do together. It's a memory we both will cherish."
Advice for future Dolly Couture brides: "Invest in a good photographer! We planned a wedding that was considered a "budget wedding" by today's standards. We didn't skimp on the photographer though, and my husband and I are so glad. Not only was our photographer (Joshua Mahar) a great help to us on the day of the wedding, (he's done this many times before, and we had not) He delivered us images that I will treasure forever. He captured even the smallest details, and every time I look back at the pictures, it's like I'm instantly there on my wedding day again, feeling all the happiness and love I felt that day. Worth every penny!"
Congratulations Eva & Ian! We wish you a lifetime of happiness!

The weather around the country is pretty drab and grey today (even in LA), so I thought I would show you a wedding with bright color palate and leave you longing for those warm summer days at the State Fair.
Today's couple is Samantha and Travis who hail from Kansas. They decided to do a carnival themed wedding. I just love the fabric pennants, the dessert bar and does she look amazing in her Beverlywood?
Below are some photos from the wedding, but go to Green Wedding Shoes to see the great article and more photos. Be sure to read the full blog because Samanta gives some great advice for you future brides.
A big thanks to Green Wedding Shoes for sharing!

Amy wore a Manhattan gown with an organza overlay. We just love her shoes! Dolly Couture gowns are perfect for showing off your favorite pair!
